Scholastic Book Fairs 

The NCPS library hosts two Book Fairs during the school year. These provide both the opportunity to get high quality books into the hands of students and to raise money to buy new books for the library. Please check out our Fall Fair's webpage for dates, times and volunteer information: FALL BOOK FAIR

 

Battle of the Books

Students in grades 3-12 have the opportunity to represent Nenana City School District in this state-wide competition. All that is required is a love of reading and an enjoyment of discussing books. Stopy by the library to pick up a reading list and to get more details.

 

Book Clubs

 

Lunch in the Library: Junior and Senior High School students are welcome to bring their lunch into the library each THURSDAY for an informal book-focused gathering. Look for student planned events in the library's near future.

 

After School: Elementary students meet each TUESDAY after school (2:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.) to discuss and review books. Check out their book review binder before choosing your own book to read!

Interlibrary Loan

We now have an Interlibrary Loan and Reference Service available through the Alaska State Library and Anchorage Municipal Libraries.  Not only do we have the Anchorage Municipal Library catalogs available but, through them, we have access to two nationwide databases. Please take advantage of this wonderful service by contacting your school librarian to request materials or information.

 

United Streaming

As you are planning your units, please do not forget UNITED STREAMING!

Passwords are availble in the library so you can set up you own account (teachers only). United Streaming offers more than 5,000 full-length videos divided into 50,000 content specific video segments. United Streaming video content will bring your lessons to life!

Accelerated Reader

Our Accelerated Reader program has been updated to include over 90,000 quizzes.  Renaissance Place is bookmarked on the library computers and students should be encouraged to search for quiz availability by title and author.  If you need assistance with accessing student records, creating reports, or with ideas to encourage student reading in your classroom, contact your Librarian.
